Police
Chief Neal Stockton is a lifelong resident of Kernersville.
He graduated from East Forsyth Senior High School in 1973.
Chief
Neal Stockton is a 33 year veteran of the Kernersville Police
Department. He began his career with the Police Department
as a dispatcher in 1975. He served the Department as patrol
officer and patrol sergeant until he was sworn in as Chief
of Police in 1984.
During
his 33 year career as Chief of Police, the Department has
grown from 22 to 87 employees. Chief Stockton was instrumental
in the design of the police headquarters that has housed the
operations of the Department since 1991. The entrance
to the Police Department, is flanked by the Police Protector
statue that bears the inscription “To Wear the Badge is a
Choice, To Serve the Public is an Honor.” This motto
serves as the foundation for the men and women serving the
Citizens of Kernersville.
Under
his direction, the Department was one of the first agencies
in the county to install an 800 MHz trunked radio system.
Chief
Stockton holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from
Gardner-Webb College.
