Are you interested in shaping the future of Kernersville? Let your voice be heard!

The Town of Kernersville is underway in developing a new Comprehensive Plan to help guide the future development of the Town. The current Kernersville Development Plan was adopted in 2014 and incorporated several different plans, including the Land Use Plan, the Thoroughfare and Street Plan, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and the Pedestrian and Bike Plan. The Land Use Plan was also adopted in 2014 and has been amended as the Board of Aldermen have considered requests for rezonings.

Plan Updates

The Kernersville Community Development Department staff is working with consultant firms Teska Associates, Inc. and Freese and Nichols to develop a forward-thinking, citizen-driven Comprehensive Plan. As part of being citizen-driven, please come see us at our upcoming Public Engagement Events:

  • Spring Folly – May 2nd & 3rd – Come see us outside the Wolf & Associates Offices (Pinnix Drug Store Building)
  • Community Open House – Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden, 5:30pm– 7:30pm

What is a Comprehensive Plan?

Kernersville’s Comprehensive Plan will capture the community’s vision for the next 5-10 years, acting as a long-term blueprint for growth and development. Through citizen input, this plan will guide decisions on where and what type of development should occur, while also informing future transportation improvements to shape the kind of community Kernersville wants to become. This may be a helpful article if you are curious more about the Comprehensive Plan process.
