If you live in Kernersville, you do NOT need to report the Spotted Lanternfly. The NC Department of Agriculture (NCDA) has specific areas throughout Town where they are treating.
NCDA are not spraying residential properties at this time.
However, you can help! NC State Forestry Extension has set up a website that goes over all the things you can do to help reduce this insect from spreading.
A few things you can do:
- Don’t transport wood from or to other locations outside of Kernersville.
- If you see the Spotted Lanternfly, you can stomp them.
- You can scrape off the eggs.
- You can even build a trap that can be emptied into a soapy bucket of water. DIY instructions here (https://forestry.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SLFManagementGuide_LST_Final.pdf?fwd=no).
- More management tips are found here (https://forestry.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/SLFManagementGuide_Homeowner_Final-1.pdf?fwd=no)
Every little bit helps.
