Have you ever wondered what’s involved in stream restoration? Are you interested in hearing the backstory of how an unstable, sediment-filled section of stream gets re-shaped to restore habitat and protect the land around it for many generations to come? Make plans to join us on Saturday, May 18th for a free public tour of the recently completed stream restoration at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex.
The Town of Kernersville hired the design-build team of North State Environmental and Jennings Environmental with grant funding from the NC Clean Water Management Trust Fund to stabilize streambanks that were eroding 180 tons of soil annually. Dr. Greg Jennings, retired NCSU Cooperative Extension professor and design engineer, will lead informational walking tours.
Group is limited to 15 participants via registration, first come, first serve. If there is sufficient demand another group may be added. Register for either the 9am or 10am walking tour by sending an email to Wendi Hartup ([email protected]). Tour should last approximately 20 minutes. Please wear appropriate walking shoes that may get muddy.

- From Union Cross: Turn east onto Shields Road and turn right onto Beeson Rd. Turn right on the second gravel road (note: this is before the baseball fields).
