The Forsyth County Department of Housing provides comprehensive rehab repairs to approximately 20 to 30 owner-occupied, single-family dwellings each year. Each project uses Federal, State, and/or County funding and formally solicits as many as five contractors on the Housing Department’s approved Bidders list. Contracts may range from $5,000 to $50,000 and work typically includes replacing roofing, windows and doors, upgrading electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, new paint, carpet, and cabinetry.
Contractors interested in working with this program must have at least three years’ experience and carry general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Renovate, Repair and Paint (RRP) for remediation of lead paint is a requirement for general contractors. Payments are processed two times each week. Interested applicants are encouraged to request and complete a Contractor’s Application. Completed forms may be requested from and returned to Diana Westrick, Project Analyst, by the means indicated below:
