Know Where to Take Shelter

  • Have a safe place at home and work to seek shelter when severe weather threatens, such as a basement or interior room on the lowest floor with no windows.
  • If you live in an area prone to flooding be prepared to evacuate at a moment’s notice. When a flood or flash flood warning is issued in for your area, head for higher ground. Preplan arrangements with your family, friends or neighbors in case you have to evacuate.
  • Discuss and practice plans with your family/household.
