GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The work includes General, Site, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical work to be constructed under one Single Prime Contract. The extent of work is shown on the drawings and specified in the project manual.

 

BIDS DUE:
Sealed Bids will be received until 3:30 pm, on October 19, 2021 in the Executive Conference room at the Kernersville Town Hall Building, 134 E. Mountain Street, Kernersville, North Carolina 27284.

 

PRE-BID CONFERENCE:
There will be a pre-bid conference held at 2:00 pm, October 5, 2021 in the Executive Conference room at the Kernersville Town Hall Building, 134 E. Mountain Street, Kernersville, North Carolina 27284. All General Contractors are encouraged to be represented at the conference.

QUESTIONS:
Questions must be submitted in writing to Brian Starkey by 4:00 pm, October 13, 2021. Questions should be emailed to [email protected]. An addendum will be issued by 5:00 pm on October 14, 2021.

 

BID BOND:
Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier’s check or a certified check drawn on a bank of trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation made payable to The Town of Kernersville in an amount of five percent (5%) of the gross amount of the base bid or by a bond in the above amount executed in accordance with and conditioned as prescribed by G.S. 143-129, State of North Carolina. If the successful bidder fails to give satisfactory surety as required by law, the above deposit will be retained by the Owner. All contractors are hereby notified that they shall be properly licensed under the state laws governing their trades.

 

PERFORMANCE & PAYMENT BOND:
The successful General Contractor will be asked to provide a Performance Bond and Payment Bond for 100% of Contract Amount after selection.

 

Consideration will be given only to Bids of Contractors who are able to submit evidence showing that they are properly licensed under “An Act to Regulate the Practice of General Contracting”, ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina on March 10, 1925, and so subsequently amended.

 

The Town reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all Bids and provides equal opportunity to Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB). The Town of Kernersville, North Carolina reserves the unqualified right to reject any and all proposals. The Town also reserves the right to increase or diminish the quantities or items given in the Proposal and to award Contracts which appear to be in the best interest of the Town.
